Life Remembered: Adam Jenkins

CHAMPAIGN — Josh Alford has served as the assistant director of coaching for local soccer club Illinois FC, was head coach at Champaign Central and Parkland College, and today is an assistant women’s coach at South Carolina-Aiken. It’s likely none of that would have been possible without the influence of Adam Jenkins.

2016 All-Area boys' soccer Player of the Year: Danville's Caleb Griffin

DANVILLE — Caleb Griffin picked off a pass near midfield and surged forward out of his center back position during the Danville boys’ soccer team’s second match of the season, a bout with eventual sectional champion Quincy Notre Dame.

2016 All-Area Boys' Soccer Coach of the Year: Urbana's Randy Blackman

Why he’s Coach of the Year: In his 31st year at the helm, Blackman won his 400th game and led the Tigers to a massive improvement. Urbana went 19-4-1 and was the best team in the area throughout its Big 12 Conference and Class 2A Champaign Central Regional championship season.

The Villa Grove/Heritage co-op is up for renewal in the spring, but both districts want different things from the co-op moving forward.
