CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois softball team jumped all over Bradley on Wednesday with six runs in the first two innings as the Illini won 7-1 at Eichelberger Field.
Annie Fleming went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBI to pace Illinois’ (19-8) offense, while Breanna Wonderly picked up the win in the circle by allowing just one run in five innings of work.
TAMPA, Fla. — Emily Brodner struck a three-run homer as part of a seven-run third inning Sunday, lifting Illinois softball to a 13-5 five-inning win over Bethune-Cookman in its Clearwater Spring Break Classic finale.
ST. LOUIS — Isaiah Martinez wrestled the 100th match of his career Saturday night at Scottrade Center, donning his orange singlet reserved solely for national championships against Penn State’s Vincenzo Joseph in the 165-pound title match.
CHAMPAIGN — Jack Yalowitz struck a three-run homer and drove in the first of four sixth-inning runs for Illinois baseball Friday, lifting the host team to an 11-5 win over Toledo.
The Illini (5-9) led 5-4 when Yalowitz notched an RBI double in the sixth inning, the first of three run-scoring hits in the frame for Illinois.
■ Junior Johnny Leverenz, from Danville, won the 800 meter run at the Big East Indoor Track Championships for Butler. After cruising to a win in the preliminary heats, Leverenz crossed the finish line in one minute, 48.81 seconds in the final. He earned All-Big East honors with the individual win and as a member of Butler’s third-place distance medley relay squad.
BATON ROUGE, La. — Stephanie Abello cracked a two-run, pinch-hit homer in the sixth inning Sunday for Illinois softball, lifting her team to a 5-3 win over Troy to conclude the LSU Invitational.
The Illini improved to 12-6 on the season with a 4-1 showing at the event.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Illinois wrestling team began the first day of the 2017 Big Ten Championships with some ups and downs.
The Illini finished the day in sixth place with 71 points. First-place Ohio State leads the competition with 117 points.
The Illini will send seven of their 10 wrestlers into Sunday’s action.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Illinois baseball team went up 15-9 going into the bottom of the eighth and hung on for a 15-14 win Friday night against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Pat McInerney (2 for 4) had five RBI to lead the Illini (2-3).

CHAMPAIGN — The inaugural Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame class is loaded with familiar names, 28 of the greatest in Illini history from players to coaches. The 2017 class was announced Thursday morning, rounding out the group that was started last year with All-American linebacker Dick Butkus.
EVANSTON — Despite holding Northwestern to 33.3 percent shooting from the field — 21.1 percent from the three-point line — and forcing 16 Wildcat turnovers, the Illini women’s basketball team fell to the Wildcats 66-53 on Sunday.
